Galesburg temporarily closes Lake Storey due to diesel spill

A diesel fuel leak has led Galesburg to temporarily close Lake Storey, according to an email from the city. The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a diesel fuel leak in the 3100 block of Log City Trail near South Lake Storey on February 8 and used large absorbent booms to help manage the spill. The Illinois Department of Central Management Services, as the owner of the original leak contamination site, is currently using a remediation contractor, along with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, to clean up the spill.
